Following Jesus
What does it mean?
Following Jesus sounds so simple, but to some it is a confusing concept. Following Jesus consists of:
The desire to follow Him
Having faith in Jesus and who He is
Accepting the offer of eternal life He extends to us.
It is that simple. Once we do so, we are agreeing to submitting or surrendering ourselves to Jesus, to pattern our lives after Him and to place our relationship with Him above our own will and desires. Following Jesus is a life-changing commitment to be taken seriously.
Following Jesus is making a very personal, individual decision. It is a choice every human is offered and must choose through faith. Following Jesus is not about religion. It's about denying your self and taking up your cross to following Him. Being a follower of Jesus is becoming a disciple for Him, bring others to Christ, winning souls for Christ.
Can I be a disciple?
Once you have made the decision to follow Jesus Christ. Don't just stop there, tell others, take up your cross. The word disciple actually means to learn or follow. You may be thinking that you are not good enough or worthy to become a disciple of Jesus. But the Bible tells us that He loves us all equally as Peter says in Acts 10:34-36, God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear [honor] him and do what is right. Matthew 28 tell us how to become a disciple for Jesus Christ.
Witnessing is a vital part of the Christian life; the Bible teaches that the true believer will desire to share with others what God has done for him; read John 4:28-30,39-42 and 1 John 1:1-4
What is an Encounter?
Encounters are designed to break the curses caused by the emotional pain we endure in our lives. We will help you learn about emotional pain, sin, and curses that are caused by relationship & betrayals. Your face to face Encounters with God are nonjudgmental sessions that allow us to deal with the worst moments in our pasts and gain the victory promised by Jesus Christ.
Definition: An Encounter is to come upon or meet with, especially unexpectedly: to encounter a new situation.
Experience God and renew your strength.
Most men & women who had an encounter with God in the bible were immediately and forever changed. When we are in the presence of God, He brings about a radical change. We see this all through the Scriptures, but somehow we don’t understand that the God of the Scriptures is the One who is encountering us. Our primary purpose for coming into the house of God ought to be to have an encounter with God. We can say that we are in the presence of God, but there may be no transformational change that indicates that we are changed.
When God encounters you, It exposes you fully to Him and you will know it because He will stir every ounce of your being. God knows the timing and He comes in the fullness of time.
It may be through a Scripture. Suddenly the Spirit of God takes the Word of God, and like a two-edged sword, pierces the soul and spirit and joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of your heart. (Heb. 4:12).
Evangelism is the duty of every Christian. Whether you share your faith a lot or a little, the Lord wants every Christians to share the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
